The Manic Titanic

In case you haven't got the memo, Alice is getting kicked out of Canada in 2 weeks. The Canadian government decided that she's been creating too much of a ruckus here for much too long, so they refused to extend her visa any longer. I had to take one last cab shot of us on our way to the latest 518 party.

A nautical theme was in order for the Manic Titanic party, since the party fell on the same day that the Titanic sunk. There's something macabre about hosting a party celebrating the day a bunch of people died, but what else can we expect from 518, who are notorious for their annual Party Formerly Known as the September 11th Party? (See also here).

Oh, what, you didn't know that Canice is a trashbag, just like the rest of us?

I, however, am most certainly not a trashbag. I, dear friends, am a sailor.

You probably don't want to mess with us. Canice intimidates university professors (no, seriously--our magazine fundamentals prof admitted that she was scared of Canice in the beginning). And I'm just flat-out scary. You should see me swab the decks. Don't you see those pipes? That's right--I could kick your ass. Wanna fight about it?

The party quickly turned into an impromptu journalism gathering.

Um, well, I guess the party was nautical themed.

Julia and her friend.

Katrina, Ivonne and Brie.

Sonja, Sarah and Canice.

Pierre, Charles, Jordan and Brendan even stopped by for a bit.

Apparently there were door prizes.

Some of the j-school girls: Smashley, Other Jess, myself and Rebecca.

Why is it that whenever The Other Jess comes out to play, there is invariably a picture like this?

Kaydi and Geoff.

Affection unbridled.

Does this scene look familiar?

I'm pretty much a spontaneous dance party just waiting to happen.

Junior's been making things awkward since 1984.

Sarah and Norah.

Things I'm going to miss about Alice: her popularity and how she is constantly being called or texted by people demanding her attention.

Things I'm going to miss about living with Brie: being able to do stuff like this all the time.

Junior and Sonja.

Oh, and Mark was there, too! Which is probably a good thing, considering he lives there and was hosting the party.

I had a really great caption for this picture, which was also a direct quote from The Other Jess, but I've deemed it inappropriate for the blog. (Check out her boyfriend in the background giving the thumbs-up. Haha. That's awesome.)

So let's play mad libs instead: "Jess loves [adjective] [noun]!"

I hope there are many more cab rides in our future!

I'm in love with that Captain Carla picture. Damn, I should have gone, it looked like fun. But I spent the day in bed because apparently I am so out of practice partying that one night out killed me.
Anyway, if I don't see you before you go not to worry because we'll exchange many a "work related" e-mails.
