As someone who has lived (and dined and drank heavily) in both New York and California -- both of which prohibit smoking in public places -- I can tell you first hand that Chris Miller is full of shite.
Argh. That's all I'm gonna say. I could rant about quite a few points after reading that, but this probably isn't the right place to do it. So I'll leave it at "argh".
Oh my, oh my. I prefer the article about our blogs...but this one, was really based with the health of humanity in mind. Ridiculous. Chris Miller, once again, you have outdone yourself!
Apparently this editorial came out in the newspaper the same day that Tyler called the MLA office to find out when Cold Lake is going to catch up with the rest of the country.
Rev- the one underlying argument that we have in Canada (which I'm sure you've heard) is that smoking is being banned because it's costing the health care system insane amounts of money, and therefore, the taxpayer. And if the taxpayer isn't the "little guy", I don't know who is.
The thing that appalls me the most is Miller's style of writing. It disturbs me that I pay money to get lectured daily on HOW to write which often results in me tearing out my hair in huge clumps, but he gets paid money to write arguments that a) aren't researched b) aren't well thought out and c) are poorly written. I give him a D-.

ReplyDeleteBut I'm pretty sure you already knew that! :-)
